The Office Oracle

If it involves money or mandatory forms, Teri is already ten steps ahead of you. As Controller she manages HR, payroll, insurance, audits, accounts payable and every single piece of paperwork you've ever ignored. She arrived at Geary Company in 1987, pregnant with her second child and a burning desire to make financial spreadsheets fear her name. Some say she once submitted an audit so flawless the IRS backed away slowly and whispered “Respect.” Others claim she keeps QuickBooks in check through sheer force of will.

Teri moved to Las Vegas at 14, straight out of Lynnwood, Washington, and directly into a June heat wave that melted her Pacific Northwest sensibilities and forged a desert queen. That summer of 1974 set the tone: high temps, high school and high-stakes tennis where she met her future husband, Jim. They’ve been married since 1981 and now have kids, grandkids and a running list of favorite restaurants. Teri prefers her Sudoku intense, her mini marshmallows partially stale and her mezcal margaritas smokey.

She brings heart, humor and a deeply intimidating level of organization to everything she does. Teri is the reason our checks go out on time and our receipts are submitted under the quiet threat of eternal shame. She may dress exclusively in black, but her life is full of color: dinners with family, concerts with live music and spoiling her grandkids. She’s a proud extroverted introvert, a little bit of a control freak (her words) and living proof that the best life hacks start with sugar on the rim.
